Sustainability is in our DNA

4th May 2026

At Advanta, sustainability has always been more than a consideration – it is part of how we think, design and manufacture.

We are proud to introduce Advanta’s new Sustainability Commitment Statement, a clear reflection of our ongoing focus on creating commercial seating solutions that are not only functional, durable and beautifully designed, but also more responsible in the way they are made and managed throughout their lifecycle.

Our commitment is built around a simple belief: great design and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand. As a manufacturer of commercial seating, we recognise the role we play in reducing environmental impact and supporting better outcomes for both people and the planet. That means making thoughtful choices from the earliest design stages right through to end-of-life product stewardship.

A Clear Commitment to Better Practice

Our sustainability statement outlines Advanta’s commitment to designing and manufacturing seating solutions that support a sustainable future by embracing circular economy principles, prioritising ethically sourced and low-impact materials, and working to reduce our environmental footprint across the full product lifecycle. The goal is to deliver durable, stylish and responsible seating solutions for modern commercial environments.

Our Five Sustainability Priorities

To bring this commitment to life, we have defined five core sustainability priorities that guide the way we develop our products and processes.

  1. Adopt Circular Economy Principles

We are focused on designing products with disassembly, repair and recyclability in mind. By using modular components and considering end-of-life outcomes earlier in the design process, we can help extend product life and reduce waste. Advanta also applies its Eco 5 environmental assessment and product stewardship take-back approach across products as part of this commitment.

  1. Use Certified Sustainable Materials Where Appropriate

Material selection matters. Our approach includes strict criteria for product and material selection, with a focus on FSC-certified timber, recycled materials and metals, and low-VOC finishes. We also continue to support recognised certifications and standards including Eco 5 Rating, GREENGUARD, BIFMA and AFRDI Blue and GreenTick.

  1. Minimise Waste and Emissions

Reducing waste and lowering our impact in production is another key priority. This includes implementing closed-loop manufacturing processes and reducing energy and water consumption wherever possible.

  1. Ensure Ethical and Transparent Supply Chains

Responsible sourcing goes beyond materials alone. Our sustainability commitment includes upholding fair labour practices and traceability, while avoiding materials linked to environmental degradation or unethical labour.

  1. Design for Longevity and Reuse

Creating products that last is one of the most effective ways to reduce environmental impact. We prioritise durability and timeless design to reduce replacement cycles, while also supporting refurbishment and take-back initiatives that help extend product life.

Supporting Products Beyond First Life

A key part of Advanta’s sustainability commitment is our Product Stewardship End-of-Life Take-Back Program. This program supports more sustainable disposal by allowing certified Advanta products to be returned at the end of their useful life, provided they are returned unassembled, uncontaminated and within five years of delivery. Returned items may then be resold, donated or dismantled for recycling, helping minimise waste and maximise ongoing value. The program is available to the original purchaser of the product.

This initiative reflects our broader view of product stewardship – that responsibility for environmental impact is shared across production, supply, use and disposal. By considering the full lifecycle of a product, we can take more meaningful steps toward waste avoidance, recycling and resource recovery.

Built on Assessment, Standards and Transparency

Our sustainability approach is also supported by a range of certifications and assessment criteria. Advanta’s Eco 5 Rated label is an internal environmental product assessment that considers factors such as materials, harmful substances, expected lifecycle, packaging, separability, recyclability and emissions. To achieve an Eco 5 Rating, products must meet 12 criteria where applicable, including product life, stewardship, emissions, packaging, product information, harmful substances, upholstery materials and recyclability. The statement also references recognised certifications including AFRDI, BIFMA, CATAS, FSC Timber and GREENGUARD.

Looking Ahead

Our new sustainability statement is an important step in clearly articulating what matters to us and how we are working to improve. It reinforces our intention to design and manufacture with longevity, responsibility and transparency in mind – and to continue evolving our practices over time.

At Advanta, sustainability is not a separate initiative. It is embedded in our design philosophy, our product development thinking and our commitment to better outcomes for the environments we help furnish.
